Don't let vulgar toys erode childhood innocence

A few days ago, there was a news report: it was accidentally discovered that a 10-year-old child was actually smoking. While doing homework, the child had a cigarette in his mouth, the cigarette tip flickering, and smoke was being blown out. The family was very shocked and questioned how he could start smoking at such a young age. But the child looked innocent and said that it was not a cigarette, but a fruit-flavored "toy cigarette" bought at the stationery store near the school gate. Many boys at school liked to buy such things, "thinking it was very cool."

It should be said that children living in today's era, especially urban children, are mostly only children. Each one is the apple of their family's eye, truly extremely fortunate, having everything they want. This is based on the general pampering and spoiling of children by parents nowadays. Manufacturers and sellers of children's toys, aiming to maximize business benefits, are committed to deeply exploring and expanding the children's toy market, using all means and methods. Some so-called "adult-themed," "violent," and "vulgar" toys targeting children's pursuit of novelty and excitement have thus openly entered homes, tempting children who have weak discernment and self-control to buy and play with them.

Loving toys is the nature of children. Good toys can develop their intelligence, cultivate their sentiments, and motivate them to be positive. However, what should be warned is that these adult-themed, violent, and vulgar toys often take filth as avant-garde and take vulgarity as novelty, which can easily affect children's physical and mental health. It is not hard to imagine that when children immerse themselves in these so-called "advanced and novel" toys, they will unknowingly be led into another "bad environment." Subtly, their young hearts will be eroded by the "toy culture" of horror, bloodiness, vulgarity, and ugliness, causing them to lose that beautiful innocence of childhood too early.

To keep children away from vulgar toys requires the joint participation and cooperation of all sectors of society. Schools and families should strengthen publicity and education for students, improve their awareness and discernment, and consciously resist these vulgar toys; industry and commerce, quality supervision, and other departments should strengthen supervision of stores around schools, intensify inspections of "three-no" products, and take strong measures to cut off the production of vulgar toys at the source; cultural departments should quickly implement a "grading" system in the toy market, classifying adult toys and children's toys, and prohibit arbitrary sales. Merchants selling toys containing elements of violence, pornography, superstition, etc., to children should be strictly investigated and punished. Only by multi-party linkage, guiding and educating children to stay away from vulgarity and reject harmful information pollution, can the school atmosphere be purified and children grow up healthily. Do not let adult-themed, violent, and vulgar toys erode the pure and flawless hearts of childhood.
